Abstract
In this paper, we investigate additional structure that might be put on bond graphs in order that (1) all bond graphs have physical realization and (2) all physical realizations have bond graphs. In particular, restrictions are proposed for the allowed forms for the constitutive laws and the modulation of elements. This added structure is proposed to ensure the existence of a unique energy state function, passivity of sourceless models, ensure unique solutions to the model equations, and preserve the signal or information nature of modulation.
