Abstract :
An example industrial control system design problem is solved using classical optimization techniques. The method utilizes nonlinear dynamic models incorporating deterministic and stochastic load disturbances. This approach addresses three important steps in control system design: structure determination, optimal tuning and evaluation of overall system robustness.
