Abstract
The concept of Block Relative Gain (BRG) has been introduced as a measure of interaction for decentralized control structures. During its development however the implicit assumption has been made that both the plant and controller dynamics are linear. In this paper, we introduce the concept of Nonlinear Block Relative Gain (NBRG) as a measure of interaction for decentralized control systems in which the process and controller dynamics may be nonlinear. The scope of applicability for NBRG is discussed, its properties are presented and an example is given that illustrates its use for interaction assessment.
