Abstract :
There has been substantial recent progress in the development of software for computer-aided control engineering. This includes both "conventional" software as well as environments based on the use of expert systems. One major area has not received much attention until very recenty: data-base management. In this paper, we define a framework for database management, describe a set of design assumptions and corresponding functional requirements, and describe several roles that an expert system can play in this activity.
