Abstract :
A non-linear predictive controller with on-line correcting capabilities has been experimentally demonstrated for the control of power on the 5 MWt MIT Research Reactor. This controller was designed using state-variable feedback techniques modified for use with a non-linear system. Designated as the MIT Predictive Correcting State-Variable Feedback Controller (PCSFC), it is capable of matching a variety of desired power response curves. The general use of predictive state-variable feedback techniques for controlling reactor power are discussed. Both the control approach and experimental results are presented.
