Abstract :
The Tracking Index [1] has been shown to be a useful parameter in describing target tracking problems and the unique tracking solution; the α-β tracking parameters and the tracking performance. This paper extends the Tracking Index concept to include the α-β predictor and smoother. The smoother is efficiently obtained by combining a forward time α-β tracker with a backwards time α-β predictor. The combining weights and smoothing performances are presented in closed form in terms of the Tracking Index.
