Abstract :
In this paper we propose a `roadmap´ which provides a basis for an integrated solution to the following problems in control system design/implementation: (i) operational/physical constraints, (ii) full-envelope operation, and (iii) digital processor implementation. A key component of this roadmap is the so-called minimal modal canonical form, a new canonical state-space form which possesses a number of useful properties relative to the design/implementation process. This roadmap is expected to provide a basis for the achievement of enhanced controller performance with reduced development and production costs.
