Abstract
This paper considers sensor and actuator placement for structural control with possibility of failures. Norms on controllability or observability gramians are selected as a performance measure and algorithms are developed. Scaling of the state space is based on selection of a throughput path. Examples are shown with a simply supported beam and a large-scale finite-element model.
