  • Abstract
    Timoshenko beam theory is applied to beams with multiple layers of piezoelectric material attached. The model is developed using a Hamiltonian approach, and includes the external electrical circuit as well as a com plete set of boundary conditions. Resistors are added to the sensor layers for passive damping. The resulting model is then formulated in state space.
