Application of a Constrained Multi-Variable Controller to a Hydrogen Plant

Although this controller is complex and requires a knowledgeable operator to fully realize it´s potential, this paper illustrates how this technology can be successfully used for large highly constrained control problems. This application demonstrates the advantages of this linear program driven DMC controller in handling this type of control problem. The controller is now in operation at the Sarnia Refinery providing both significant economic benefits and additional operating flexibility.
