Abstract :
In this paper, the problem of controlling the dynamic brake of a test bench for automotive engines is treated The goal is controlling the brake in such a way that during arbitrary transients of the throttle of the engine, the instantaneous load torque of the engine on the test bench matches the load torque of the engine in a specific car at all instants of time. The system configuration and the control scheme of a dynamic engine test bench are explained. Experimental results for two particular models of the vehicle dynamics are given.
