Abstract
This paper presents a methodology for creating plant models, based on the multi-body modeling methodology for mechanical systems. It is shown that this methodology properly accounts for commonly ignored kinematic effects due to joints between bodies in system. Accounting for these effects leads to accurate plant models. This is demonstrated for a vehicle suspension model, with the model dynamics being validated with experimental data.
