Abstract
A robust control law is developed for an undersea vehicle. The vehicle geometry includes a forward sail surface, and its dynamic model is characterized both by strong coupling and large hydrodynamic uncertainty. The μ-synthesis design framework is used to effectively handle both the coupling and model uncertainty robust performance is obtained in this application in the presence of very large uncertainties in hydrodynamic cross-coupling moment terms.
