Abstract :
For a linear SISO plant sufficient conditions are given which guarantee that the plant can be stabilized by a single lead or lag compensator. A parametrization of all stabilizable plants is presented. From that sufficient conditions and an explicit algorithm are derived for the case where the plant is strictly proper.
