Abstract
Model predictive control (MPC) techniques have found widespread application in the chemical process industry, primarily due to explicit constraint handling ability. One limitation to these techniques is that they are based on the availability of output measurements and manipulated variable moves at the same sampling rate. In this paper, a multirate sampling approach to model predictive control is presented A stability analysis for unconstrained multirate systems is developed by obtaining the discrete feedback equivalent representation through the linear controller transfer function.
