Abstract :
We consider the attitude regulation of multibody flexible space structures via linear regulators. Prior experience indicated that such systems may have a severely limited domain of attraction. We show that for the class of systems of interest to us such limitations can be associated with the presence of a nearby subcritical Hopf bifurcation.
