Abstract
In this paper we discuss the use of computer algebra for the development of software tools for analysis and design of nonlinear control systems. We illustrate with a number of examples how the analysis can be simplified using some suitable computer algebra functions, which we have implemented. The examples concern several different areas of nonlinear control theory; exact linearization, Volterra series expansions, stability theory and optimal control.
