Abstract
We propose necessary and sufficient conditions for linear multivariable systems to retain stability under sensor and actuator failures. For systems subject to decoupling control constraint, we show that the controller must itself be stable to maintain closed-loop stability under failures. Computational algorithms for the construction of controllers and decoupling controllers with integrity are also proposed.
