Abstract
Today´s communication network requires power systems of high reliability in order to achieve the expected high performance levels of this equipment by the end users. Today´s communication systems may consist of computer branch exchanges or a network connecting various communication centers around the world, carrying data, voice, or control signals. The above mentioned systems cannot tolerate power system malfunctions and still maintain signal integrity without the loss of data or process control. Many computer based Private Branch Exchanges (PBX´s) cannot tolerate a power interruption of more than 1/10 or 1/20 of a second without dropping all calls in process and losing memory.
