Abstract
This design and development has been done to come up with a new generation rectifier to be used in Power Supply Plants for telephone exchanges. This new equipment will meet all Norwegian telecommunication administration (NTA) requirements and also be cost-competitive. This Power Supply module can be paralleld in an unlimit number. However, the largest power plant foreseen for NTA applications will be around 4000A. The advantages: 1) Output psophometric noise. 2) Better regulation. 3) Better transient response. 4) High efficiency ≫0,9. 5) Immediate short circuit limiting. 6) Noise back to main. 7) Power factor. 8) Less acoustic noise. 9) Easy paralleloperation with current sharing. 10) Easy service and installation. 11)Cost competitive. 12) Size W = 450 mm, D = 400 mm, H = 1800 mm. 13) Weight 120 kg. This paper will provide the users of such equipment a more detailed understanding of the features and advantages such a system has to offer. The paper also cover the main problems in the design, such as: 1) Control / Alarm. 2) HF-transformer design. 3) Mechanical design. 4) Output circuits. 5) Main circuits. 6) Switching loss and protection. 7) Driving circuits.
