Abstract
With growing amount of telecom equipment exchanged by world trade the need for safety standards accepted all over the world is becoming urgent. Specific safety requirements have been set up by national telephone administrations and some national standardization bodies. The fields of telecom equipment, data-processing and office machines are growing together. For the last two fields international requirements exist. In a survey the structure and dependencies of the international bodies envolved in safety standardization are shown. The present situation of the work of the relevant committees is presented. Some problems specific to the telecom field are shown where applications of the international standards do not satisfy. Finally a way to gain solutions is named.
