  • Abstract
The technology of modern power electronics and with it static uninterruptible power supply - UPS, is now about 20 years old. Many problems were solved, for example good reliability and redundant and parallel systems became standard. But in the past UPS´es were expensive, bulky and noisy devices, they normally required special rooms for the units and batteries. The customers often had to make a critical evaluation if it was useful to install a UPS-system. Now this situation has changed based on 20 years of know-how and attractive new components became the key to a significant improvement in modern UPS. This paper tries to explain some examples of progressive UPS-technology and shows how easy it is to install and use modern UPS equipment.
