Abstract
This paper discusses the introduction and use of a computer-based asset management system for power and building engineering services plant in British Telecom. Asset Management is a combination of engineering, management, and financial practices aimed at achieving an economic life-cycle, from specification through design, manufacture, installation, commissioning, operation, maintenance and disposal. for a specified performance. The system´s primary purpose is the improvement of plant maintenance in the field and, from that, the acquisition and feedback of precise and comprehensive performance data for the interactive process of equipment development.
