  • Abstract
    This paper describes experience obtained with the renewable solar and wind power sources in remote areas as a supply for radio relay networks. The main point of the design was to achieve high reliability together with minimum maintenance. All selected components are of the highly reliable type, easy to handle during transport and installation and easy to operate. Much valuable experience has been gathered with largely prefabricated components, lightning and mechanical protection, energy losses due to dirt and supervision of the system. The main aspects will be discussed.
