Abstract
This paper will define the system architecture and explore the benefits of the PJH synchronous TDMA (Time Domain Multiple Access) communications system overlaid by satellite communications links. The composite system in its ultimate configuration can feature real-time control of the satellite/PJH linkages and provide a synergistic, non-monolithic combined communications system with selective high-capacity links. Also, inherent PJH battle damage resistance and optimal relaying can be enhanced with the satellite overlay. Obviously, where applicable, the position location and Identification Friend, Foe or Neutral (IFFN) capabilities can be retained. Overall, the secure jam-resistant, weather independency of PJH will enhance point-to-point satellite system reliability, particularly when EHF tactical satellite systems are employed.
