Abstract
A versatile low rate multiplexer, LRM, has been developed for a broad range of applications. Software control and three alternate line card modules permit it to be configured from its front panel or via a remote control panel for composite data rates up to 256 kb/s with arbitrary mixes of analog, FSK, and digital lines with data rates ranging from DC up to 56 k/bs per line. (Up to 1200 b/s for FSK and either 16, 19.2, 32, or 38.4 CVSD for analog signals). The composite configuration can emulate either the TRITAC Loop Group Multiplexer or the AN/GSC-24. It can also operate in its native LRM composite format which is better than 90% efficient for arbitrary line mixes, and which provides redundant stuff-delete signaling spread over 16 frames to operate in a burst-error environment. The LRM has been developed under contract with SATCOMA for applications in Air Force and Army Satellite Ground Terminals. It is also planned for use by DCA in the strategic satellite communications network.
