Abstract
The evolution of the RITA (Reseau Integre de Transmissions Automatique) System, (Integrated Automatic Communication Network) is traced from its inception in 1971. There follows a description of the architecture and call routing scheme of the RITA System as fielded by the French and Belgium Armies since 1981. The technical solution selected for the Radio Telephone Subsystem (RTS) is presented following a discussion of the other candidate approaches. Finally, network management is addressed with a description of the computer-based System Control Center (SCC).
