Abstract :
This paper reports on an algorithm capable of distinguishing or sorting one emitter from another based on observable features of the signals they transmit. The representation of the emitter is flexible and includes several signal features to permit the algorithm to perform well even when some features appear to be the same for more than one of many emitters to be sorted. The goal is to provide an algorithm which will be able to sort or distinguish the signals from two or more emitters even if they differ in only one of the several characterizing features. The one feature in which they differ is not known a priori, must be automatically identified by the algorithm, and is expected to vary between emitters and for a given emitter over time.
