Abstract
The delay, throughput and blocking characteristics of a population of Md data users and Mv voice operating in a mobile network environment are evaluated. Frequency hopping and forward error correction are used in like users simultaneous transmission while MFSK signals are being investigated as a candidate for data modulation. The presented network and analysis differs from recent proposals by the inclusion of one or more of the following aspects: Considering the interaction between the queueing aspects and the modulation aspects of the network. Studying the exact phenomena bit of errors, traffic variations, resulting packet errors, nature of data and voice traffic, effect of bulk and interactive data and silence and talk periods of voice. Potential error techniques and adaptation of back off strategies in FH networks are also investigated.
