Abstract
Electronic switching systems feature high packing density and high heat density compared with electro-mechanical equipment. Consequently the importance of the cooling system has increased considerably. The climate in a switching room must be kept within specified values under all operational circumstances, including mains failure. Further requirements are: high operational reliability, no special demands on space or the layout of the building, extendability, simple installation and minimal maintenance. This paper describes a cooling system designed specially for electronic switching centers. The system uses water as a heat transfer medium, in contrast to conventional air based cooling systems.
