Abstract
In the Heemaf dynamic diesel UPS-system a tapped choke coil and a free running synchronous a.c. machine act as a filter for transients, higher harmonics, peaks, and voltage variations in the mains power supply. In addition, the a.c. machine drives an induction coupling with a high speed rotor which stores the energy required to supply power to the load during the starting time of the diesel engine. This principle results in improved efficiency and reliability in comparison with more conventional UPS-systems. Heemaf diesel UPS-systems can be supplied in ratings from 100 kVA up to 500 kVA for single sets, while for sets operating in parallel ratings in excess of 2000 kVA are possible.
