Abstract :
The TRIPORT is a single-phase ac uninterruptible power supply, or UPS. This new TRIPORT design employs an eight-bit microprocessor to administer the control functions, perform signal monitoring, and provide self-contained fault diagnostics. The new TRIPORT uses the flexibility of the microcomputer architecture to achieve a control concept applicable to various combinations of input and output voltages and power levels. This paper describes the benefits of stored-program control as applied to the TRIPORT UPS, and the resulting new control techniques and features.
