  • Abstract
    The paper covers factors which determine the requirement for a standby system in telecommunications centres and which affect the design of the system. Details of diesel generating set characteristics are given in relation to standby system design parameters and environmental limitations. Engine systems design is described, including controls as engineered for sets recently supplied by APE-Allen to British Post Office Telecommunications.
