Abstract
In this discussion we establish that the number of circuit pack failures seen by the customer over a given operating interval is relatively insensitive to the instantaneous failure rate at shipment. We conclude that rather than shipping circuit packs at a specified reliability, it makes sense to examine the tradeoffs between the cost of achieving a negotiated reliability and the resultant impact on customers.
