Abstract :
Single type of protection for dynamic traffic on WDM network is well-studied, and most protection allocation mechanisms are based on the centralized control. In this paper, we will investigate the mixed-mode protection strategy for the connections in the network, under the assumption of single link failure model. Two types of protection resource allocation methods are proposed. The distributed decision process of working and protection resource is presented. The essential modification for original routing packet is also described. The improvement on performance for the proposed mechanism is verified by conducted simulations.
