  • Abstract
Nearly all performance analysis results for ad hoc routing protocols use a model in which each node in the network moves independently. In most real environments, however, very commonly a group or multiple groups move under the direction of a group leader or group leaders rather as independent individuals. This paper presents the performance analysis of routing protocols for a mobile ad hoc network in a group mobility environment. We have made comparative simulations between a table-driven protocol, DSDV, and two on-demand protocols, AODV and DSR, under a group mobility model, RPGM, which suits practical applications, such as military tactical operations. Multiple group movements are also included. The results show that protocol performances for single group movement are very similar to performances for node-independent movement. However, we observe some differences by varying pause time and connectivity.
