Abstract
Reduction of contour error is an important issue concerning multi-axis contour following tasks in micro-milling. One effective approach to this problem is the cross-coupling controller (CCC). By exploiting the structure of CCC, an integrated control scheme is developed in this paper and an in-depth investigation on the issue of contour error reduction is also conducted based on a novel miniaturized three-axis NC micro-milling machine tool. The simulation and micro-milling experiment results indicated that the contour error of the miniaturized NC micro-milling machine tool can be reduced effectively with the cross-coupling control approach.
