Abstract
The realistic modeling of soft tissue will not only improve current medical simulation systems; it will considerably enlarge the set of applications and the credibility of medical simulations. In order to achieve realistic breast tissue deformation modeling, considering the nonlinear stress-strain relationship or in a more precise statement the strain-hardening characteristic of different breast tissue types is crucial. The elastic moduli of normal fibrous and glandular breast tissues along with cancerous lesions are strain-dependent, in a manner that tissuespsila stiffness increase with applied compression in different ratios. In this paper, we represent a model for the alterations of Young´s moduli of normal and different pathological breast tissue types due to an applied force. This model is achieved base on very precise indentation experimental results under no assumption for soft tissues characteristics. Thanks to its simplicity, it could be utilized to increase the accuracy of simulation of some techniques like elastography.
