Title :
Hydro generator stator cores part 2 - core losses, degradation mechanisms, testing and specification
Author_Institution :

Abstract :
In the preceding paper hydro generator constructional features and causes of core losses were presented. This second paper will further cover the definition of stator core losses (open circuit and short circuit) and the way they are segregated for stator core loss calculations. Stator core insulation degradation mechanisms (thermal, mechanical and partial discharges) are described. The methodologies for stator core full ring flux test and reduced flux ELCID testing are briefly covered, followed by a summary of contemporary stator magnetic core material standards and specifications. Important factors relative to new/replacement hydro generator stator core specification are summarized at the conclusion of this paper.
