Abstract
This paper presents a simplified and improved direct torque control (DTC) scheme for matrix converter drives. This method allows reducing the harmonic content of input current without any negative effects on the drive performance. Moreover, by applying two input vectors at each cycle, the instantaneous control of input power factor is achieved without the displacement estimator, the low-pass filter or the input power factor hysteresis comparator, which are required in the classical DTC scheme. Numerical simulations are carried out to identify the effectiveness and improvement of the proposed method.
