Abstract
Band-stop filters (BSFs) are presented using novel designs of electromagnetic bandgap (EBG) structures and its improved structure with compact sizes on coplanar waveguide (CPW) transmission line. An equivalent lumped circuit is introduced to model the EBG unit cell. The BSFs are then designed by cascading EBG cells. Sharp selectivity and deep attenuation levels are shown on the stop band. It reveals a 20 dB stop band with a bandwidth of 2.3 GHz. The pass-band insertion loss is less than 0.6 dB.
