  • Abstract
The dynamical model of an internal combustion engine based on its crank angle is used to obtain a discrete model. The discrete model is suitable for parametric identification purposes which in turn are used as a fault detection scheme. The engine fault is related to the firing behavior in the combustion chamber of an internal combustion engine, corresponding to a misfire phenomenon. An engine used in radio controlled airplanes is instrumented and used as an experimental platform.
