Abstract

For fulfilling the STCW95 Convention and extending training facilities, QOSMC (Qingdao Ocean Shipping Mariners College, R. P. China) has recently developed a new type of engine control system at its marine training center. This paper will introduce the use of IT, such as VB, database network and Internet technologies, for developing an engine control system. An innovative design of integrating marine simulator and CBT into a traditional engine control system for training purpose is described in this paper too.
