  • Abstract
A finite element model for depth-averaged hydrodynamics, sediment and contaminant transport (HSCTM-2D) is used to simulate the tidal current field and suspended sediment field of Estuary of Pearl River. The cohesive sediment transport model takes into account the shear stress in erosion algorithm and deposition algorithm adequately. Using the dry density, sediment on the bed can be divided into two parts, the new deposits and settled bed. It shows that the numerical results are in good agreement with the field data. A conclusion is that this model can be applied to estuaries.
