  • Abstract
    • Backwards-compatible with existing networks and terminals • Raptor codes allow to incorporate AL-FEC as a software upgrade • Copes with fast fading (5–6 dB gain) • Longer protection periods benefit from time diversity of the mobile channel ▪ 2–3 dB gain with respect to MPE-FEC against fast fading ▪ 3–7 dB gain with respect to MPE-FEC against shadowing
