Abstract :
A wideband modified fractal electromagnetic band gap configuration (EBG) is presented as a unit cell and is extended to form a periodic EBG. The wideband characteristics are achieved due to the inherent wideband and multiband nature of fractal structure. The EBG operates over 1.8 to 12 GHz and beyond with a good isolation of better than -50 dB over most of the band except between 3 and 3.5 GHz. The impedance of the structure is also presented over the band. The impedance is maintained as low as 2 Ohms at specific bands at 1.5 to 3.2 GHz and 7.2 to 8.2 GHz. Most of the band the impedance is less than 10 Ohms.
