Abstract :
RF filters for wireless applications must achieve stringent EMI specification while meeting tight cost constraints. This paper proposes the design of microstrip based RF filter printed on low cost FR4 material with EBG ground plane structure. The full wave Method of Moments based IE3D simulator is used for the design. The characteristics of the filter are determined in terms of S-parameters which depicts improved insertion loss characteristics when printed on EBG ground plane structure.
