  • Abstract
Tapered amplitude distributions are popularly used to generate narrow beams with specified side lobes. There exits several tapers for the above purpose. The line source patterns and those of discrete radiators and those of arrays of isotropic radiators are found to be almost identical. This is true for large arrays. By introducing the suitable phase distributions it has been possible to convert narrow beams into desired shapes. In the present work, a suitable non linear phase distribution is numerically evaluated for different arrays to produce the above desired patterns. The shaped beam patterns are computed for arrays of slots. The patterns are presented in sinthetas-domain for both small and large arrays. The data presented in this paper is extremely useful for array designer in pattern synthesis.
