Abstract :
Qualifications of defence electronic sub-systems according to a standard are an important step in the military system development. US Department of Defence (DoD) standard series MIL-STD-461 is widely accepted standard at sub-system level qualification. At present, in India, MIL-STD-461E is following in the most of the current defence development although some projects, which had started long, back are still following MIL-STD-461C. These are major differences between C and E versions and EMI test labs took several years to upgrade as per E version. On 10th Dec 2007, DoD has released MIL-STD-461 F with certain changes from MIL-STD-461E. A study report is presented in the form of paper in which a review of the changes has been presented along with brief history of the DoD standards for EMI and EMC. Interpretation of the changes have been brought out and suggestions are made to upgrade existing dasiaCpsila and dasiaEpsila version test facilities to adopt dasiaFpsila version.
