Abstract
This paper presents field programmable gate arrays (FPGA) based systems for industrial automation that has applications in nuclear power plants and oil refineries. System architecture based on fault tolerance, failsafe, and redundancy are also discussed. FPGA advantages in today´s world and key issues like noise origin, resource optimisation, system verification, and geographically diverse environment are highlighted.
